Updated extra credit

I am a man of my word. I went back and checked and awarded double credits to Ayesa, Taylor, and Neven for the past three weeks of posting the best photos in the past three different weeks.

As I said, the extra credit will be added to your final grade but it will not show up in Canvas. The most you can earn on extra credit is 5%.

Having fun? Post your photos!

Only amateur photographers use direct flash. You are not an amateur photographer anymore if you pass this course.

Whenever you see a white ceiling or white wall in a dark environment, you should think about bouncing your flash. Well, if you do not forget bringing your flash.

Flash can help you reproduce the natural lighting without the danger of slow shutter shaking and high ISO noise.

Watch out the color of the wall you bounce to!

Or you can purposely bounce to a green wall to create a green color light.

Let the camera's exposure combination setting take care of the background exposure.
Let the TTL flash take care of the foreground subject.

Measure and set the background exposure setting. Set the camera in M mode. Bounce flash to the ceiling to light up the indoor shadow areas.

Photo from class today! Good times.

Dr. Lo's note:
Right! Good times. We now can freeze anything we want as long as we have the flash! No matter how dark it is! By the way, do we have to set our shutter speed at 1/1000s? Why not?
Hey Dr. Lo! Who's cap is that?!

Must read before mid-term

Hi News photo 1 folks,
Our midterm exam will include 20 questions and one shooting assignment. It will start right after the staff meeting.
I would suggest you download this document and read through it. It definitely would help.
Also, I remember I told you guys to read  the Lens chapter. Compostion chapter and Portraiture chapter are also listed as required to read in the outline.
If you have not done so, start now.

Dog hangin outside of Tobin Lofts.

Saw this dog chillin outside a window of the Tobin Lofts while I was on assignment. Looks like a Pit Bull. Lick! Don't think they're supposed to have pets up there. Haha. Carde said "looks like a catahoula."
